Agility’s Point of Sale Fundamentals Are the Differentiator for Beisser Lumber
Beisser Lumber, a full-service lumberyard with three locations and a wall panel plant, chose Agility to replace their aging Activant Dimensions system. After evaluating two other software companies, the Grimes, Iowa-based company selected Agility for many reasons, especially its strengths in inventory management. “We wanted a system that would help us capture exactly what is going on with our inventory,” Beisser Lumber’s IT Director, PJ Phillips said. “We figured at the end of the day, each one of the software packages we evaluated were going to be able to produce a purchase order, pick ticket, etc., but when it came down to the core fundamentals of point of sale, Agility was the front-runner.”
In addition to having better inventory management, Beisser Lumber is looking to increase control and communication with their installed sales division. “Currently we don’t have any way of working with installed sales within our point of sale,” Phillips explained. “So we will utilize Agility to help us capture that information so we can have detailed reporting and tell profit and loss.”
Information flow will make a big impact for Beisser Lumber. “Being able to see information in real-time instead of pulling information from the day before is something we are really looking forward to,” Phillips added. “Having information right at our fingertips will help us to make better business decisions.” Agility viewers for sales orders, purchase orders, inventory, pricing, deliveries, commissions, etc., will provide user-defined views into all of the various aspects of Beisser Lumber’s business.
Two features that will greatly improve processes for Beisser Lumber are the remanufacturing function, which they will use to create wall panels and custom trim, and the CAFÉ Logic feature for bill of materials items. “Our fabrication area for our doors is overly complex and CAFÉ Logic will simplify it,” Phillips explained. “This technology will allow anyone in our organization to accurately quote and configure interior and exterior doors.”
