BenBilt Takes Full Advantage of Agility’s Functionality

Omaha, NE - Since going live in January 2009, DMSi Software customer BenBilt Building Systems has utilized Agility software’s functionality to improve product tracking, achieve tighter inventory control, and improve efficiency. Based in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, BenBilt is a single branch distributor of exterior doors, vinyl railings, and ventilation. “We decided on DMSi after speaking with a lot of our peers, and have found it to be an overall stellar package for our business,” explains Judy Tlumac, BenBilt IT manager.

One the biggest benefits of Agility, according to Tlumac, is its Bill of Materials (BOM) functionality. By using DMSi’s CAFÉ BOM logic to create bill of materials for sales order entry and pricing purposes for units, BenBilt employees create special order either from the manufacturer or wholesaler. This eliminates the creation of new special order non-stock item codes for every order. Now, from the point of taking the order to the point of packing, the process is clear where there was a lot of grey area before. Previously, only two employees knew how to accurately operate their old system. “It just took too much training to enter in an order before,” says Tlumac. “BenBilt wanted all of their employees to be able to use the system properly. With Agility, they can.” CAFÉ’s easy-to-use, intuitive process helps BenBilt’s twenty-four Agility users process orders without issue.

BenBilt selected the hosted or Software as a Service (SaaS) option offered with the Agility package. This gives them the additional benefit of housing servers and other related hardware and software at a remote, secure, expertly maintained “Data Center”. All their workforce requires is a PC with an Internet connection to access the Data Center to perform regular day-to-day business, as well as updates. For Tlumac, the best part is you don’t need a programmer on staff to operate the software. “I love it! For our size company, it is ideal,” adds Tlumac. “I don’t have time to be updating. With SaaS, all the updates are kept current automatically.”

DMSi employee and installer for BenBilt, Dave Lefler finds BenBilt’s use of the software and CAFÉ logic very impressive. “We actually use them as an example when we are showing potential customers the functions of Agility,” concludes Lefler. “They make the software work in the best interest of their company and have achieved remarkable results.”
