DMSi Donates $24K to Haiti Relief Efforts

Omaha, NE - In the wake of the massive earthquake that brought devastation to the Haitian country, DMSi Software President Cal German and CEO Jim Hassenstab challenged its staff to contribute funds to Haiti relief aid. Employees answered the call by donating $8,000 in just two weeks, while DMSi matched every $1 employee donation with a $2 DMSi donation to boost efforts. “Thanks to our employees’ generosity, we contributed a total of $24,000 to the direct benefit of the earthquake victims in Haiti,” German states. “This response speaks volumes about the good hearts at DMSi.”

A volunteer group of DMSi employees researched organizations and selected four that provide support in Haiti. Donor recipients include Catholic Relief Services, Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, Creighton University Haitian Earthquake Relief Fund, and Direct Relief International. Each of these organizations help serves the tremendous needs of the Haitian people in various ways.

  • According to Catholic Relief Services, contributions help the organization “offer ways for poor people oversees to overcome tremendous hardship”. www.crs.org
  • The Clinton Bush Haiti Fund (CBHF) responds to unmet needs in the country, foster economic opportunities, improves the quality of life over the long term for those affected, and assists the people of Haiti as they rebuild their lives and “build back better.” www.clintonbushhaitifund.org
  • With hometown ties, the Omaha-based Creighton University Haitian Earthquake Relief Fund provides supplies and water to earthquake victims. Creighton University medical professionals are “working tirelessly to care for the earthquake victims”. www.creighton.edu
  • “The nongovernmental organizations have been tapped out and stretched by the tough economy,” said Thomas Tighe, president and chief executive of Direct Relief International, a privately funded humanitarian health organization based in Goleta, Calif. “But our assumption is that if there is a precise need and compelling case, people will step up.” www.directrelief.org
