DMSi Productivity Solutions Enable Companies to Run Lean

Following what can only be referred to as an historic several years, many economists and government officials are now predicting a recovery in sales and production to begin the second half of this year. However, due to the state of the economy, they also quickly add that the recovery will likely happen in a slow, measured pace.  NO matter the economic cycle we’re in, DMSi has and will continue to make significant investments in the solutions we provide.  Our goal is to help each and every customer manage these challenging times, while helping to position them to take advantage of the market once it returns to one of growth and prosperity.

In addition to the ongoing investments made in Agility functionality, DMSi provides productivity solutions which can assist in running a leaner organization, today. The DMSi Productivity Solutions are designed with one goal in mind: helping your company become more efficient and productive. 

Here’s a brief summary of some of the major tools and how they help DMSi customers run lean:

Partnerview –  24X7 Customer Service. PartnerView and PartnerView Mobile allow your customers access their own account information. By inquiring on customer specific pricing, viewing real-time inventory levels, and placing sales orders; customer are able to leverage a self service system on their own schedule. Once implemented as a core business system, PartnerView provides customers better service levels and saves you time and effort at the sales desks. 

As an included component of PartnerView, PartnerView Mobile (PVM) provides similar functionality to customers and outside sales associates via handheld devices such as Windows Pocket PCs, BlackBerrys, and iPhones. 

BInformed – Knowledge is power. Understanding the specifics of your sales, purchasing, inventory and suppliers allows you to make better decisions based on products’ positive and negative affects. You’ll know what customers are driving you upwards and which ones are holding you back. This powerful tool makes it easy to access information about each of these areas without requiring others to run or write reports for you and lets you drill into the information that will make you better.

Warehousing – Running a Lean Warehouse.  DMSi’s customer’s investment in inventory is most times their largest single expense. It’s, therefore, easy to understand DMSi’s commitment to warehouse management systems. DMSi provides customers two options for WMS technology, each doing for the warehouse what Agility does for the office. 

Mobile RF and the Agility RFNavigator interface transform DMSi’s customers’ warehouses from good enough to best in class. Though an investment is required, these solutions warrant strong consideration during the economy’s current state due to their strong ROI and the improved customer service. We are confident that in the next 10 years, companies implemented to these technologies will not be able to compete with companies that have not.

Logistical Solutions – Deliver Orders as efficiently as possible. As demands continue to increase Fuel expense and driving hours; customers demand more information and specified delivery times. A full time route delivery person equipped with baskets and clipboards is no longer good enough. A system utilizing GPS and optimization logic to calculate and track the most efficient loads and routes will provide a solid return on investment, usually within months of being installed.   

DMSi has interfaces to a few routing solutions to meet the individual needs of customers. Our latest routing software partner, Descartes, provides their solution in a hosted environment. With minimal upfront costs with subscription based pricing, the Descartes OnDemend product is a cost effective solution for most all DMSi customers. Now, leveraging DMSi’s “one to many” customer environment, customers with only 2-3 trucks can justify and benefit from this technology. 

Document Storage – Store and retrieve documents quickly and electronically. Why spend man hours filing, storing, retrieving documents and still have to worry about disaster recovery? Document management improves the service of DMSi’s customers, while saving time, space, and money. Imagine the time savings from being able to find any document needed without the need for file cabinets. 

To help customers realize immediate benefits from this technology, DMSi and World View offer the Proof of Delivery for signed delivery tickets for a one-time fee of $500 with no other fees going forward. The Agility POD solution allows people to view the signed delivery tickets either through Agility or online via Partnerview. Customers that have implemented the POD solution state the decision to put in POD is “a no brainer”.
