Warren Trask Cuts Physical Inventory Process in Half
Located in Sloughton, MA, Warren Trask, has established itself as one of the preeminent building materials wholesalers in the Northeast, focusing on high quality softwood products. The company, who is a NAWLA and NRLA member, was previously running DMSi’s DMS+ Software. In June of 2010, they implemented Agility. They chose Agility because of its versatility, ability to manage their inventory and its lumber specific features such as the engineered wood program.
In just a little over six months, Warren Trask has already seen a great improvements and big gains in their physical inventory process. “It used to take us 2-3 days to actually complete the inventory, reconcile and just to make sure everything that was out there was accounted for. With Agility, we got it done in a day,” Sean Lindstrom, Warren Trask’s general manager said. “We are a small company, so everyone puts in time. Completing the inventory in a day allowed our salesman to get back on the road and sell.”
Agility is ingrained with lumber specific functionality, which has been a great benefit to Warren Trask. Agility's EWP functionality gives users item flexibility and cut optimization for greatly improved inventory utilization, ease of order entry, and greater confidence in item quantity information.“The engineered wood program has been very useful,” Lindstrom said. “Being able to track lengths is a big plus for us. It saves time and cuts down on manual processes.”
They have also seen gains in terms of productivity and automating processes. “We have streamlined what our inside accounts payable and receivable were doing on D+,” Lindstrom explained. “Before, there was a lot of tedious and manual work, now it is easier and quicker.”
In time, Warren Trask is hoping that their conversion to Agility will lead to operational efficiency and a more streamlined inventory. “I know that for us, Agility has changed our business,” Lindstrom added. “A lot of the jobs that we had for administration no longer exist. We were able to consolidate a lot of things into a single job. It has helped us cut down on overhead.”
