Agility’s Laminate Features are Essential for Web-Don


With nearly four decades in the countertop and laminate distribution business, Web-Don, knows what software features work best for their business, which is why they use Agility. Based out of Charlotte, NC, Web-Don, Inc. had been using DMSi’s BLOCS software for over 10 years before migrating to Agility in 2008. “Being a laminate and post form counter top distributor, we easily recognized the advantages and efficiencies that would come with a move to Agility, particularly in critical areas like  cut processing and rebate  management,” Web-Don's operations manager, Luke Teague explained. “Along with the appeal of improved functionality and technology, we also saw great benefit to migrating to Agility with support from the same folks who helped us successfully implement BLOCS in the mid-90s.  It was comforting to know that we wouldn’t be giving-up gains made in the past as we transitioned to the new Agility platform.”

The cut processing features that are essential to Web-Don help them be more accurate, reduce waste, and get the product to customers faster. “I really couldn’t imagine doing business without it,” Teague added. “It prevents useless cuts or mistakes by the warehouse, which saves us money by not wasting inventory. When you cut product ahead of time using the system’s cut sheets, the material is ready to pick at the appropriate time. No waiting around.”

Another essential feature is the rebate reporting. “We’re able to process our rebate reports with the vendor at month’s end electronically and we see our credits in the same month. When this was a manual process, we’d have a couple of employees in sales/pricing and accounts payable ready to leave!” Teague exclaimed. “All the way down to manufacturing panels internally, to commodity sheet programs, to high volume negotiated pricing customers, the rebate program is a must. We never would have gone to a software program without this in place.”


Agility has helped Web-Don deliver unparalleled customer service. “In today’s economy, the ability to have seamless customer service is wonderful,” Teague explained. “If a smaller location such as Columbia is having a busy morning and the phones are ringing non-stop, our phone system rolls those calls to a less active location and Agility lets them provide the customer gets the exact same service experience. Charlotte has full and seamless access to Columbia’s customers' orders, etc.”


Agility’s powerful functionality lets Web-Don obtain more detailed reports and information. “The reporting functions in Agility and the ability to drop them into Excel or e-mail them as a pdf with a single click is crucial to our day-to- day operations,” Teague said. Web-Don takes reporting a step further by using BInformed, an easy to use business intelligence application that serves as an interactive tool for viewing data and performing analysis. “Not to diminish the importance of the reports in Agility, but BInformed takes reporting to another level with ease,” Teague added. With Agility’s powerful viewers, it is easy to build custom views of  information that facilitate workflow throughout the operation. “Within Agility, the sales order viewers and inventory viewers are part of every employee’s daily routine,” Teague said. “We use these for everything—reports, profitability, inventory checking, even auto printing our delivery tickets.”


Because Web-Don has had success with DMSi add-on solutions like BInformed, they are moving forward with the implementation of Majure Data’s RFNavigator, a wireless, paperless, real-time Warehouse Management System (WMS) that is fully integrated with Agility. “We are very happy with Agility’s inherent order and inventory accuracy, but the disciplines, efficiency, can control that come with automating the warehouse with a WMS will take us to the next level,” Teague said. “The combination of Agility on the front-end seamlessly integrated to the WMS and GPS delivery tracking on our trucks makes order management completely automated from the point-of-order all the way to delivery and invoicing. Our customers will benefit immensely.”
