MyUI Designer Improves Order Entry

For over 30 years, DMSi Software has delivered easy-to-use, sophisticated technology for the building materials industry. The new myUI Designer, released as part of the new sales order entry window currently in the Agility Beta Program v420, brings this technology to the next level.

“The overall purpose of the myUI Designer is to allow our customers to lay out their transaction screens in the way that makes sense for their business,” said DMSi’s Agility product manager, Jason Niemi.

DMSi’s custom layouts for sales order entry have existed for a few years, but myUI Designer goes further. Through the new tool, users set up a layout of the sales order window in a manner that has a variety of benefits. By noting certain fields on the layout as required, key information will be captured before the order has been saved. Because entry will be streamlined with myUI Designer, users will improve the accuracy of orders. “Having the ability to set any field as required allows our customers to force a user to enter a value on the fields they want,” Niemi explained. “Sometimes people have a hard time enforcing a policy to gather certain valuable information, this should help them greatly.”

To enable users to get started easily with myUI Designer, Agility includes a variety of layout templates. DMSi developed these layouts with the input and feedback from specialists in a variety of lines of business. These layouts can be used as they are defined or as a starting point for a completely custom experience. “If customers take the time to setup their layouts with only the information they use the majority of the time, the end result should be an intuitive and efficient order entry screen,” Niemi said. “A brand new employee will be able to open the window and know exactly what information they need to populate to get the order done right the first time.”

Layouts can be designed for any user, group of users or for all users. In fact, there is no limit to the number of layouts you can define and assign, so creating one for point of sale entry and a separate one that is tailored to siding sales, lumber sales, or any other category is only a few mouse clicks away. “The myUI Designer is not complicated to use,” Niemi said. “You access it directly off the sales order entry window. Rearranging fields is as simple as click and drag.” MyUI also grants the user security by controlling who can create or modify layouts for other users or groups.

To find myUI Designer, open the new sales order entry window and click the edit button on the layout panel of the ribbon. Also, check out the myUI Designer Quick Reference Guide when you are ready to get started.
