DMSi Customers Help Improve Software and Industry Best Practices

Several DMS+ millwork customers recently formed a group facilitated by DMSi Software to improve the BOM (Bill of Material) system and inventory management; share doors/pre-hanging processes; and develop best practices. The group included representatives from Central Lumber, Building Products, DW Distribution, Rocco Building, and Mid-Am Building. “Through this group, we were able to open the lines of communication between various companies to discuss common industry issues,” according to Jeff Carriker, Director of Operations at Rocco Building Supplies, LLC. “DMSi was the catalyst for the discussion and were open to making the modifications necessary to help our businesses run more efficiently.”

Among other modifications based on the group’s feedback, DMSi software created an easy-to-use inventory maintenance system with powerful Excel import/export capabilities. Through this functionality; pricing changes, product line control, and general item cleanup can be completed in a fraction of the time. “Three years ago, it took me around 3-4 weeks to overhaul my BOMs. With the new excel import and export, it takes less than 3 days,” adds Carriker.
