OrePac has implemented the RF Navigator Warehouse Management System
(WMS) by DMSi and Majure Data in their Pheonix, AZ; Sacramento, CA and
Ontario, CA branch locations. Three systems are set to go live in August,
October, and December of 2006. The remaining four OrePac locations are
scheduled to be implemented by 2007.
OrePac is a wholesale lumber, millwork, and building materials
distributor headquartered in Wilsonville, Oregon. With over 750,000 square
feet of warehouse space at 12 locations along the West Coast, OrePac
needed a comprehensive WMS to improve warehouse operations, space and
back-office efficiency, inventory accuracy and order fill rates.
"We saw it (WMS) as a necessity to improve inventory accuracy to drive
shipping precision and reduce returns for wrong ships, which are expensive
to the bottom line," says Alan Kirk, OrePac CFO. The right product, in the
right quantity, in the right location, and better customer service from
implementing their WMS system has created significant savings for OrePac.
While the initial investment is significant in any WMS, the short-term
cost equals years of bottom-line benefits. Building Product Distributors
experience an average return of 30 months or less on WMS investments.
DMSi and Majure Data are scheduled to roll out the implementation of
OrePac's Warehouse Management System in all of their locations in a 24
month timeframe, due to the significant results OrePac has experienced
from the system. "On a $300,000 shipping day (which is a real big day for
us), we used to have 10-16 hours overtime," explains John Dutter, OrePac
Building Products General Manager - Sacramento location. "Now, we maybe
have 2-6 hours overtime on those large days . . . and, in fact, on some of
the days, we were down 2 pullers and still got out with minimal overtime."
As you can see from OrePac's results, WMS is a proven solution for
increasing operations productivity and accuracy in a simple to operate
solution. Are you ready to achieve a better bottomline, too?
