Plywood Tacoma Goes Live on Agility Software

Omaha, NE – In order to streamline business processes, Plywood Tacoma’s three branches recently went live on DMSi’s Agility Software. Headquartered in Tacoma, WA, Plywood Tacoma manufactures and sells doors, laminate, laminated panels, plywood, mouldings, and hardwood and softwood lumber.

The lack of industry specific functionality in their previous custom system prompted Plywood Tacoma to search for a software company experienced and knowledgeable in the building materials industry. DMSi’s Agility software is a proven system with the ability to handle Plywood Tacoma’s wide variety of products. “Agility made our value-added processing much easier by allowing us to input a large number of orders into one system for different products, such as millwork, pre-hung doors, and laminate,” explains Al Ulbrickson, Plywood Tacoma system manager. “It is definitely a system that can grow and adapt with us as we add branches.”

For its pre-hung doors and laminate, Plywood Tacoma uses Agility’s error-proof CAFÉ (Component Attribute Filtering Engine) logic to filter down the bill of materials within actual components and previously selected options. With CAFÉ, Plywood Tacoma enjoys easy maintenance of product line changes, a fast learning curve for new employees, and the virtual elimination of configuration errors. “CAFÉ makes set-up and ordering of complex configured units easy to understand,” says Ulbrickson.  “It literally walks employees through the sales order entry process.”

According to Ulbrickson, “We are continuously looking for ways to do more with less, especially in today’s market. The streamlined processes in Agility changed the way we approach business. For example, rather than manually transferring a quote to a sales order, Agility makes the conversion with the push of a button.”
