Agility's Point of Sale Fundamentals are the Differentiator for Beisser Lumber

Beisser Lumber, a full-service lumberyard with three locations and a wall panel plant, chose Agility to replace their aging Dimensions system. After evaluating two other software companies, the Grimes, Iowa-based company selected Agility for many reasons, especially its strengths in inventory management. “We wanted a system that would help us capture exactly what is going on with our inventory,” Beisser Lumber’s IT Director, PJ Phillips said. “We figured at the end of the day, each one of the software packages we evaluated were going to be able to produce a purchase order, pick ticket, etc., but when it came down to the core fundamentals of point of sale, Agility was the front-runner.”

Interfaces Make Sense for Eastern Aluminum

As an independent distributor of building materials, Eastern Aluminum, of Goldsboro, North Carolina, is always looking to get the best deals, products and service for their customers.

As Eastern’s business began to change in the late 1990’s, it became apparent that they needed an ERP system that could support their diversification of product lines. “The software we were using was still valid, but we needed different things,” Jay Bundy, Eastern Aluminum’s general manager and vice president explained. “The first is that it would not track the costs of non-stocks and our method of dealing with that was getting more complex because they were a rapidly growing product line for us. The second was, we had a door and window department and we needed to have bill of materials so we could configure built-up units and track material costs. The third was better management of inventory.”

Agility Software Increases Bottom Line Results For Christensen Lumber

Each customer that implements DMSi Software’s business and accounting system, Agility, does so for their own reasons. Some choose it to bring business processes up to speed, eliminate manual processes or to increase inventory accuracy. For Christensen Lumber, their reasons were based on their nearly 20-year relationship with DMSi and the proven results they had already seen from their previous DMS+ system. Implemented in 2009, Agility has given Christensen Lumber the power to increase accountability, visibility, purchasing efficiency and bottom line results. “Agility has made everyone more accountable because we can analyze things such as customer profitability and our inventory better,” Mike Potthoff, Christensen Lumber’s chief financial officer said.

Harper Chambers

Tuscaloosa, AL | Steve Chambers, President

It used to be that we took inventory once a year, but I came to the realization that we were trying to get this thing right one time a year. I would rather have an inventory number that is 95 percent right everyday than 100 percent one time a year. So, we began a cycle counting procedure and now with Agility, we cycle count every day. It is just standard with our business.
