Goes Live on Agility Software

Omaha, NE – In order to improve operational efficiencies and increase inventory accuracy, Steven F. Kempf Building Material Company recently went live on DMSi’s Agility Software. Based in Conshohocken, PA, Kempf Company has distributed drywall, steel, plywood, door frames and hardware, and acoustical materials to the Philadelphia metropolitan market since 1994.

The centralized inventory control in Agility provides a structured workflow for Kempf Company. “We can track transaction history in Agility and ensure that material is being properly allocated,” says Jan Dalina, Kempf Company system manager. “With Agility’s viewers, we accumulate information to produce reports that our product managers use to make qualified business decisions to drive increased profitability and gross margin return on investments.” Additionally, using established documented procedures, Kempf Company increases productivity and improves customer service. With Agility’s enhanced security features, Kempf Company is able to limit users’ system access to functions that are pertinent to their position.

Previously, Kempf Company assigned individual item codes for every item they sold. Now with Agility’s sheet good item type functionality, Kempf Company assigns one code to the parent item and creates dimensional records for each length carried, resulting in simpler order entry and fewer item codes in inventory. The sheet good functionality, combined with assigning meaningful and logical item codes, allows Kempf Company to easily find items without typing in every length. “Having fewer item codes in the system saves time when creating a purchase order, quote, or a sales order,” says Dalina. “We no longer have to create a unique item code for each SKU.”
